Dear Members,
As you may know, Mirant is working on
a major construction project at the Dickerson Plant to improve air
emissions from its coal-fired generators. They have made special
efforts to accommodate our needs during the two-year construction
period. We are hopeful a new access road will be available for our
use beginning on Saturday, March 8. In return, we have promised
to be extremely diligent in following all rules associated with
BCE access to the plant.
The following rules apply to use of the
course:

Temporary Closures:
· BCE website will contain information about temporary
closures;
· Please look at this website before going to the course;
Access conditions:
· Two or more members with Blue Cards may train
together;
· Members with Pink Cards may only train under the supervision
of a coach with a Green Card;
· Members with White Cards are permitted access to the facility
but may not use the course;
Course access route:
· Access route will contain signs and directions;
· There will be several pull-over areas to accommodate trucks;
· Flagmen will direct traffic, as necessary;
· Speed limits will be strictly enforced;
Security:
· All rules will be strictly enforced;
· Please make sure you have a current access card;
· Any violation of Mirant rules will result in an athlete
being barred from future access to the course;
Channel flow:
· Normal flow, unless otherwise posted on website;
· 1/3 flow from April 12-May 11;
Communication:
· We are working closely with Mirant Dickerson staff;
· Please don’t send letters/emails to Mirant headquarters.
On another subject, we are having a Team
Trial Qualifier on March 30. Please signup
for the race early. We also need volunteers. Please contact me.
Finally, there is an annual BCE board
meeting at my house (11113 Cripplegate Rd, Potomac, MD) on March
11 at 8pm. We have board members rotating off the board, we need
new volunteers. In particular, we are looking for a new treasurer.
Thanks for your support and enjoy the
water,
